The winter tour
The winter tour that has it all
Ask anyone who has followed England abroad about South Africa and watch them light up. The grounds are magnificent and the cricket is hard, but it is everything around it that makes the trip: Christmas in the sun, the Highveld thunderstorms rolling in over the Wanderers, and a New Year Test at Newlands with Table Mountain over your shoulder.
Add the fact that safari, the winelands and one of the world’s great coastlines all sit within a short flight of the cricket, and you have a tour that works as well for the partner who has never watched a Test as it does for the person who has watched every one. We have run England cricket tours for years, and we design packages that act as a springboard for you to design your own trip. Don’t see what you’re looking for? Ask us.

What it’s actually like
Second morning at Newlands, the mountain still holding its cloud, a beer going warm in your hand because nobody wants to move while Root is batting like this. Nowhere else does a Test match feel like a holiday. Getting you there, fed, seated and looked after is our job.

The grounds
Where the cricket is played
Three Tests, three very different days out, and we have hospitality at all of them.
- The Wanderers, Johannesburg · 1st Test, 26–30 NovThe Bullring. Steep, loud and utterly partisan: the most intimidating ground in the country and the best atmosphere of the tour.
- SuperSport Park, Centurion · 2nd Test, 4–8 DecGrass banks, braais smoking behind the stands and a pitch that usually gives the quicks something. The most relaxed day of the three.
- Newlands, Cape Town · 3rd Test, 1–5 JanOak trees, the Kirstenbosch end, Table Mountain behind the bowler’s arm. New Year’s Day at Newlands is on every cricket lover’s list for a reason.

We travelled to Australia (Melbourne and Sydney) with Elite Sports Travel for the cricket Ashes series, we were looked after from leaving England to landing back at Manchester. The staff were very knowledgeable and professional but friendly and fun to be around. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.
