Silverstone is where the championship began in 1950, and it still feels like the heart of it. Copse, Maggotts and Becketts are the fastest sequence of corners on the calendar, the old airfield lets you see the cars from a long way out, and a crowd of well over a hundred thousand on race day knows the sport better than any other. When a British driver leads, you hear it from the car park.
It is also the easiest race in the world to do well. We stay at Sedgebrook Hall, a country house twenty minutes from the circuit with its own grounds and pool, and run chauffeured transfers that avoid the traffic everyone else sits in. Add the Woodcote grandstand or hospitality above the pit lane, driver appearances and an Elite host, and the home race becomes a proper weekend away. No camping required.
