The weekend
The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is two thousand metres above sea level, which makes the cars quicker in a straight line and harder to stop, and it ends in the Foro Sol, a baseball stadium the circuit runs straight through. Tens of thousands of fans fill the stands on both sides of the track, and the noise when the cars come through is like a goal at a cup final, three times a lap.
Mexico City is a feast: the Zócalo and the cathedral, Frida Kahlo’s house in Coyoacán, the pyramids at Teotihuacán an hour away, and food from street tacos to some of the best restaurants in the world. We book hotels in Polanco or Roma, seats in the stadium or hospitality above the pits, and the transfers between them, with an Elite host on hand throughout the weekend.
