The weekend
Interlagos is the circuit where seasons get decided and legends get made. It runs anticlockwise, uphill and down through a natural bowl on the edge of São Paulo, with the Senna S at the start of the lap and a long, climbing run to the line that has produced some of the most dramatic finishes in the sport’s history. The weather can turn in a lap. The crowd never stops singing.
São Paulo is the biggest city in the southern hemisphere and one of its best fed. Vila Madalena’s street art and bars, the Pinacoteca, Japanese food in Liberdade and steak that justifies the flight. We book the hotels in Jardins or Itaim, seats in the grandstands above the Senna S or hospitality on the pit straight, and the transfers between them, with an Elite host on hand throughout the weekend.
What it’s actually like
The cars climb out of the last corner and run uphill to the line with the whole bowl on its feet, the rain coming in over the hills and the noise coming up from everywhere. Interlagos is where the sport keeps its heart, and it beats loudest in November.
