The weekend
A brand-new circuit in the heart of the capital
Madrid’s Grand Prix is the newest on the calendar, run on a circuit built into the city around the IFEMA exhibition grounds, with the metro running to the gates and the Castellana a short ride away. It is part street, part permanent, with a long straight and a banked corner, and it brings Formula 1 back to the Spanish capital for the first time in decades. Nobody has done it yet. You can be first.
Madrid is the point. The Prado and the Reina Sofía, the terrazas of Malasaña and La Latina, dinner at eleven and the city still going at two. We book hotels on the Gran Vía or in Salamanca, seats or hospitality at the circuit and the transfers between them, and an Elite host is with you throughout. Add a day or two and the weekend becomes a proper Spanish break. Madrid does not do early nights.
What it’s actually like
The cars come through a corner banked like a velodrome with the whole city watching from the stands, and afterwards the metro takes you straight to a terrace on the Gran Vía. Madrid built a Grand Prix into its streets. Be there the first year.
